Project Overview

This case study explores the redesign of a cryptocurrency trading interface, focusing on solving critical usability issues that impact users' ability to make informed trading decisions. Through iterative design and user research, I tackled the challenge of presenting complex, real-time financial data in a clear, actionable format.

The problems

Based on 500+ queries on the CRM systems, these were the issues users faced on funding

Through my investment experience, I discovered key friction points that create barriers to informed decision-making.

🔄 Real-time Data Issues

Exchange rates on the left panel aren't aligned, creating confusion during time-sensitive trades.

📊 Information Hierarchy

Critical trading information lacks proper visual hierarchy, making it difficult to scan quickly.

⏱️ Update Frequency

Technical constraints limit graph data updates to once per hour, while exchange rates update in real-time.

🎯 User Confusion

Inconsistent number formats and unclear data relationships lead to poor trading decisions.

Design Process & Iterations

By analyzing design patterns across fintech apps—from traditional e-banking and money transfer services to CeFi and DeFi exchanges—I investigated multiple approaches to tackle the complexity of data visualization in asset exchange experiences.

The things I was looking at when doing the benchmarking :

How do other fintech players display the current exchange rate between trading pairs? What information is included (e.g., price, change percentage, etc.), and how is it presented?

2️⃣

What level of detail do competitors provide about the exchange rate, such as historical price trends, volatility, or market depth information?

3️⃣

How do other platforms structure their swap controls and inputs? Are there any best practices or innovative approaches worth considering?

05.Learnings

Continual iteration is key

Through our interactions with users, we consistently discovered areas for enhancement. Notably, since the funding process is a pivotal aspect of the application, it must seamlessly align with the prerequisites of all other ongoing projects. Embracing iteration brings us closer to refining our product significantly.

Experience is important, but other factors matter

The data confirms that the funding process has been enhanced due to its efficiency and high adoption rate. Although we have observed a rise in the number of fundings, there is no direct attribution to this increase. Market conditions, investor confidence, and innovative projects all play significant roles in shaping the funding landscape. It's crucial to maintain a holistic view, recognizing that the improved process is one of many contributing elements.
